Galileo OSNMA: Ensuring Authentic and Secure GNSS Data

With the release of the latest firmware (v1.5) from u-blox, all ZED-F9P GNSS modules now support Galileo OSNMA (Open Service Navigation Message Authentication).

What is Galileo OSNMA?

Galileo OSNMA is a data authentication service provided by the European GNSS system. It ensures that navigation data received from Galileo satellites is authentic and has not been tampered with, offering protection against spoofing attacks and enhancing the reliability of GNSS systems.

Key Benefits of Galileo OSNMA

Through Galileo OSNMA, it is possible to:

  • Ensuring Authenticity: Ensures the navigation data transmitted by Galileo satellites is genuine and trusted.

  • Enhances Reliability: Improves the accuracy and integrity of GNSS positioning and timing information.

  • Mitigates Spoofing Attacks: Reduces the impact of false signals by enabling alternative signal selection.

  • Enables Cross-Verification: Allows data verification across multiple GNSS constellations for added security and accuracy.
